Little History of the beautiful city of Hot Springs. We just designed a Barndominium that’s going up in this historical town and can’t wait to see the finished product.
Hot Springs is a resort city located in Arkansas and serves as the county seat of Garland County. Nestled in the Ouachita Mountains within the U.S. Interior Highlands, the city is named after several natural hot springs in the area. According to the 2020 United States Census, Hot Springs had a population of 37,930, making it the eleventh-most populous city in Arkansas.
The heart of Hot Springs is home to the oldest federal reserve in the United States, which is now preserved as Hot Springs National Park. For centuries, the hot spring waters have been believed to possess healing properties and have been part of the legends of several Native American tribes. Following federal protection in 1832, the city developed into a thriving spa town.
Incorporated on January 10, 1851, Hot Springs has a rich history that includes serving as a location for Major League Baseball spring training, hosting illegal gambling and speakeasies, and being associated with notorious figures such as Al Capone. The city is also known for horse racing at Oaklawn Park, the Army and Navy Hospital, and was a significant place in the early life of Bill Clinton, the 42nd President of the United States. Additionally, one of the largest Pentecostal denominations in the U.S., the Assemblies of God, traces its origins back to Hot Springs.
